Did Coca-Cola create the popular image of Santa Claus we know today?

Some one told me that they heard that Coca-Cola created the popular and most wide spread image of Santa in a publicity add to get people to drink thier product during the winter months... instead of milk and cookies it was a cold gl of coke.
